A whirlwind trip

Last weekend, we had a fun, whirlwind trip from Matt's mom. After travel, she was only here about two days, but we did the most we could with our time together.
Matt had to work for part of Friday, so we spent most of the day hanging around the house, but we sneaked in a  trip to the children's museum in the afternoon before heading out to dinner at a great new restaurant.
On Saturday, we headed out to breakfast and then went straight to the zoo. The weather was beautiful (a sneak preview of spring that was oh-so-welcome but sadly short-lived, as we're back in the single digits with snow today, ugh), so it felt wonderful to get outdoors.
We rode the train (B's favorite) and saw tons of animals, including several I'd never seen before (like the puma and snow leopard, who are often hidden away).
After a quiet afternoon together, Matt's mom treated us to a night out. For Christmas, she bought us tickets to see Jersey Boys, so we paired that up with dinner before and drinks after. Crazy, I know.
After a quick breakfast on Sunday morning, we dropped her off at the airport, and like that, she was gone. It was a super quick trip, but it was lovely to have her here, as always. Oh, and I got to give her a gift, too — the Glam Garlands quilt. She was surprised and so excited, and I suspect it will get plenty of use back in California.
