WIP Wednesday #34

Back from Mexico and with a little bit of sewing under my belt, it's Wednesday, folks! (In case you're new around here, I'm following along with Freshly Pieced's WIP Wednesday series as a good way for me (and you) to keep track of what's going on around here.) Oh, and please forgive the basement-lighting iPhone photos. Eek.

Getting started:
Last night, I started working on my first ever dresden plate!
Chain piecing the "petals"
I'm following V and Co.'s great tutorial.
Finished petals!

I'm planning to use the dresden plate on the front of the second pillow in my basement guest room redo project (I finished the first pillow, the pink pillow, before our trip).
I think I'm going to back it with some gray Lizzy House pearl bracelets, but I can't decide what to use for the center. Thoughts? Pearl bracelets? More teal or maybe white?

On the "to do" list:
Early Bird/Kitchen Window quilt
New pillows for the downstairs bed and two chairs
Table runner
iPod workout strap
New quilt for the living room (thinking of doing a sliced coins quilt)
A mug rug for me
T-shirt quilt
Winter hat for B
Picnic quilt
Ironing board cover
Re-cover downstairs chair

Be sure to check out the other great WIPs over at Freshly Pieced!

  1. I would go with something completely different like an orange or a pink :-) I love the petals :-)

  3. I love the colors! I've never tried a dresden before, but I want to. I love the idea of using pearl bracelets as the background to echo the circle! I think the center circle would look good with solid white or one of those really pale blue pearl bracelets.

  4. Love those blues! Its going to look great when all completed. I'd pick a center that goes well with whatever background fabric you choose.

  5. I LOVE making Dresden Plates! They can be a bit fussy if they don't lay down just right, but they are SO rewarding!!!! Yours is great. I say go with a teal solid in the middle. :)

  6. I love love Dresdens and have made pillows with them before. Seeing yours and given my colour preferences I can't understand why I never made any in teal?? Love how it looks with a grey centre. The pearl bracelets are cool because they pick up the white, but you could go with an all grey print, too, I think. :)
