Stella's cozy

Stella is my sewing machine, and for a long time now, she's felt neglected. Cold, dusty, and neglected. She desperately needed a cozy. And I love Stella, so I knew I needed to do right by her. Now she's warm and happy.
I actually made most of the sewing machine cozy a few weeks ago but hadn't gotten around to adding the bias trim until this weekend. I should have taken a picture because it looked really sad — too much material at the bottom and really floppy.
I used a pattern from one of my books, Sew Everything Workshop by Diana Rupp, and adjusted the measurements to fit my machine. The pattern in the book uses oilcloth, but I wanted something softer. A lot of the tutorials I found online also added stiff interfacing to give it real structure, but I liked the looser look better, so I went without. The bias tape provides sufficient weight to help it stand up off the table. I didn't bother to line it because you won't see the inside anyway.
The fabrics, which I absolutely love, are from Cosmo Cricket's Tailor Made collection, which is now on sale at a lot of shops, including Hawthorne Threads. I had my eye on the collection for a long time but wasn't sure what I'd use it on. Then Stella was kind enough to give me an idea.
I did my own patchwork design on the front and back so I could incorporate as many of the fabrics from the collection as possible. See the measuring tape on top?
And these panels have dress forms and different stylistic stitches — so cute, right? I love the way it turned out, and so does Stella.
