WIP Wednesday: Gettin' colorful

The quilting mini break continued this week, as I finally got to work on my perfect quilted tote (pattern here by Elizabeth Hartman). This one has been on my to-do list for months, but I'm determined to have it finished before our weekend trip to Milwaukee next weekend. Of course, I guess it only half counts as a mini break since I am quilting the patchwork. But it's not a quilt!
Business in the front

Party in the back

I am love, love, loving how this is coming together, and as always with Elizabeth, the pattern is wonderfully written.

I also celebrated a wonderful mail day on Monday, when these lovely solids arrived from Pink Chalk Fabrics (FYI, they're currently clearing out their Moda Bella solids at 30% off, just sayin'). I'll be adding in a few more, but these will be the foundation for my next project, a paper-pieced(!) baby quilt, and a mystery quilt I have planned for after that. Can't wait to cut into these!

The neverending to do list (but, hey, it's getting shorter!):
Mini STL quilt
Perfect quilted tote
Paper-pieced baby quilt
Mystery HST quilt
T-shirt quilt
Aviatrix Medallion quilt
"Treasure" bag for B
Superhero cape for B
Sewing circle tote
Re-cover the downstairs chair
Ironing board cover
Reusable snack bags
Washi dress/tunic

I'm linking up to WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced.

Summer 2014: A look back

I meant to do so many more personal posts this summer, and as so often happens, they fell by the wayside, generally in favor of, you know, enjoying summer. But now that summer 2014 is officially over, I thought I'd take a look back with a few (okay, more than a few) of the photos that never made it on to the blog (but should have).
We had a lot of fun this summer -- hiking, pools, popsicles, good friends, concerts in the botanical gardens, silly faces, dressing up, trips to the zoo and museums, goofing around, parks -- lots of parks, B's first trip to the circus, and so much more.

Thanks, 2014! You were a good summer.
